When Curren Calhoun considered career paths more than 30 years ago, he wasn’t quite sure where to start.
“I chose HACC because I was unsure of what I wanted to do professionally, and I wanted the opportunity to explore different areas of focus as I continued my education,” he said. “As a working student, I also needed the flexibility that HACC afforded my personal schedule and goals. I've never regretted my choice, and years later even returned to work at HACC as both a staff member and an adjunct instructor in the photography department.”
HACC offered a quality education that was accessible and transferrable, Curren said, “allowing me to build a solid foundation to grow from for years.” Curren graduated from HACC’s Photography Program in 1996.

Curren now works as the senior director of digital photo production and technology at Gap, Inc., where he oversees the photography operation that creates e-commerce photography assets that enable the Gap, Gap Factory, Banana Republic, Banana Republic Factory and Athleta Brands online digital shopping experiences. He also leads a team of photographers, fashion stylists, retouchers, digital technicians and computer systems specialists who produce over 140,000 images a year to bring the brand’s vision to life for the company and its partners.
In recent years, Curren has been recognized as one of the Top 30 E-commerce Photo Studio Professionals 2023 and was nominated for recognition as one of the Top 50 E-Commerce Photo Studio Professionals of 2025.
