Few artists of our time have had the profound impact on their art form that Paul Taylor has had on dance. His modern dance vision has shaped dance as we know it today. In Paul Taylor’s choreography, no body part is off limits and no movement vocabulary is exempt. Swooping and tumbling are as common as jetés and arabesques. Stiffening and collapsing are communal with pliés and pirouettes. Taylor’s choreography creates an awareness of what the body can do, and what dance can be.
