Nursing 103
Introduction to the fundamentals of patient care. Emphasis is placed on treating the patient-both as an individual and as a family member-and on developing an appreciation of the patient’s right to choose and the role of cultural values in health care decisions.
Theory Classes: Nursing Process, Nutrition, Elimination, and Relationships, concept of self and family culture.
Clinical Rotation: Long-term Care and Acute Care.

Semester II
|
Nursing 104
Builds on concepts studied in Nursing 103. Considers events common in the normal life cycle. The nursing process is used to assist persons during birth, normal growth and development from infancy to maturity and aging.
Theory Classes: Childbearing Family, Newborn/Children, Adolescent/Young Adulthood, and Middle Age/Aged.
Clinical Rotation: Acute Care, Obstetrics, Nursery, and Daycare. |
Semester III
|
Nursing 203
An overview of the development of nursing as a profession. Current issues and problems are viewed in an historical perspective. Ethical and legal aspects of the profession are discussed and the role of the nurse in research is emphasized.
Theory Class: Historical perspective of contemporary nursing in the United States.
There is no clinical rotation for Nursing 203. |

Nursing 205
Builds on concepts studied in Nursing 104. Focuses on the use of the nursing process to assist persons experiencing common health problems requiring acute or long term health care.
Theory Classes: Cardiovascular and Pulmonary System, Fluid and Electrolytes, Cancer and Blood Disorders, Mental Health, and Musculoskeletal Dysfunction and Nervous System Disorders.
Clinical Rotation: Acute Care, Oncology, Orthopedics, and Mental Health.

Semester IV
|
Nursing 204
A continuing look at current issues and trends in nursing, the changing healthcare delivery system, and the concept of nursing leadership. Emphasis is also placed on responsibilities and accountability associated with the transition from the student to the graduate nurse role
Theory Class: Nursing Leadership; Career information for today and tomorrow; nurse empowerment, and issues in health care/nursing.

Nursing 206
A continuation of Nursing 205. The student applies the Nursing Process to the care of persons with health problems that require more advanced nursing intervention.
Theory Classes: Pediatrics, Advanced Cardiopulmonary and Respiratory, Metabolic and Endocrine Problems, and Acute Neurological Dysfunction of Adult and Child.
Clinical Rotation: Acute Care, Pediatrics, and Community Health.
