Important Information for 2017

  • CLEE – Mandatory Training
The following programs are not funded by the MPOETC. They are only available to municipal police officers and county detectives in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, unless permission is granted by the MPOETC. Please call 717-346-7754 for information on attendance.

The cost of the courses is listed below. You will be required to complete the Permission to Bill Form on page 17 in order to register your officers. This will allow us to bill your agency upon completion of these courses by your officers. We are not permitted to invoice individual police officers. Any questions about billing, please call 717-780-2562.

Please Note: The Continuing Law Enforcement Education (CLEE) requirement consists of 12 hours of classroom training for 2017. The additional hour listed for each course is for administrative time and testing.

  • Legal Update 17-001 Mandatory (Four hours MPOETC credit) $15
This three-hour course discusses significant pieces of legislation passed after July 1, 2016 that affect police operations and investigations, specifically changes and updates to the Pennsylvania Crimes Code, Vehicle Code, and Rules of Criminal Procedure. The training program also addresses pertinent court decisions from the Pennsylvania Commonwealth, Superior and Supreme Courts, and the United States Supreme Court and other federal courts and explains legal issues directly impacting police procedures and the case preparation process.

  • Intelligence Policing 17-004 Optional (Four hours MPOETC credit) $15
This three-hour course examines the services provided by intelligence centers and the ways in which these services can assist police officers. The training program will help officers recognize the indicators of criminal and terrorist activity, understand the National Suspicious Activity Reporting Initiative, and develop their ability to appropriately recognize, report, and respond to threats within their community.

  • Drug Overdose Response 17-003 Optional (Four hours MPOETC credit) $15
This three-hour course addresses initial contact procedures for suspected or known opioid overdoses, individual physical assessment, evidence recognition and preservation, interviews, substance identification, and officer safety issues. The training program also includes information on the administration of Naloxone and meets the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Department of Drug and Alcohol Program’s training standards required for officers to carry and administer Naloxone.

  • Procedural Justice 17-002 Optional (Four hours MPOETC credit) $15
This three-hour course defines and explains the core concepts of procedural justice and police legitimacy and teaches officers how to build respectful relationships with members of the community while improving officer safety and their professional work environment. The training will discuss the research behind procedural justice, the benefits of incorporating procedural justice strategies, and techniques associated with implementing procedural justice tactics to improve community/police relationships.

  • CLEE – Elective Training
Programs are available to all law enforcement agencies with payment of tuition. Registration is made to the Welcome Center at HACC, along with a tuition payment or a completed permission to bill form.

Please be advised that confirmation letters will be faxed to the police departments or other agencies no later than one week prior to the start date of each class.

For departments who prefer to prepay for law enforcement elective and forensic classes, we accept credit cards (Visa, MasterCard or Discover), checks and money orders.

Please Note: Courses with a CLEE number listed have been approved by the Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission (MPOETC) for credit toward an officer’s continuing law enforcement education requirement.  Please maintain a copy of your certificate from these courses to offer for proof of attendance at the end of the certification period. Some courses are not yet CLEE approved; please check the MPOETC website for courses approved after this calendar was released.

Departments will have the responsibility to report this information to MPOETC at the end of the certification period, not HACC.

For a complete list of the CLEE – Elective courses, please view the 2017 Law Enforcement Training Calendar.
