Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Learn about Pennsylvania Department of Health Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification program.

What does the program cover?

The EMT course covers:

  • The overall roles and responsibilities of the EMT
  • General anatomy and physiology
  • Assessment of injuries and illnesses
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Control of bleeding and shock
  • Care of muscle injuries
  • Medical emergencies
  • Childbirth
  • Pediatric emergencies
  • Environmental emergencies
  • The lifting and moving of patients
  • Automated External Defibrillation (AED)
  • The assisting of patients with their own prescribed medications 
  • Assessment of the scene
  • Transportation of patients to the emergency department

We will not accept program applications less than 30 days before the program start date.

How much does the program cost?

Tuition for the EMT program is $800.00 plus a non-refundable $25.00 application fee.

Tuition includes: 

  • Pocket mask
  • Stethoscope
  • 2 uniform shirts
  • The student liability coverage premium. We require all students who participate in a required clinical experience to have this liability coverage.

Tuition is due when you are accepted into the program

It is the responsibility of the EMT student to obtain the required textbook for the EMT Program.

The required textbook is:

Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured, 10th ed.

EMR to EMT BRIDGE

Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) bridge to Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program.

How do I apply?

To apply to this program download and complete the HACC EMT Program Application (pdf). *A copy of your current Pennsylvania Emergency Medical Responder card must be included with your application.

How much does the program cost?

Tuition for the program is $425.00 plus a non-refundable $25.00 application fee.

Tuition includes:

  • Pocket mask
  • Stethoscope
