EMS Academy

Now accepting applications for our 21st EMS Academy!

The EMS Academy has been designed to ensure the highest level of training to potential Emergency Medical Service providers for successful entry into the field.
Upon successful completion of the Academy, graduates will have obtained the following:
  •   Pennsylvania Department of Health and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician certification (EMT)
  • Emergency Vehicle Driver Training (EVDT)
  • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
  • Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP)
  • Hazardous Materials Awareness
  • Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS)
  • ACLS for the EMT
  •   National Incident Management System Components (overview, IS100, IS200,  IS700, IS800)
  • Basic Vehicle Rescue Awareness
Additional training in vehicle extrication, rescue practices and physical development will be provided as well as scheduled clinical rotation time on regional area ambulances where the candidate will be expected to function as a member of an EMS crew.
The HACC EMS Academy is a full time program, primarily scheduled Monday through Friday, 8am -5 pm each day at the HACC Shumaker Public Safety Center.  However, the commitment may include some evenings and weekends. This concentrated program requires over 500 hours of training. Attendance is mandatory and it is recommended that candidates do not hold employment while attending the Academy.

The HACC 21st EMS Academy is scheduled to begin February 16, 2015 and end May 29, 2015. Tuition for the Academy is $2000.00.
