ACT National Career Readiness Certificate

What is the National Career Readiness Certificate?

The ACT National Career Readiness Certificate (ACT NCRC) is an assessment-based credential powered by ACT WorkKeys®. Issued at four levels, the ACT NCRC measures and certifies the essential work skills needed for success in jobs across industries and occupations.

The ACT NCRC is based on ACT WorkKeys research-based work skills assessments. To earn an ACT NCRC, you must successfully complete three ACT WorkKeys assessments: Applied Mathematics, Locating Information and Reading for Information.

The NCRC certifies core employability skills required across multiple industries and over 20,000 occupations. It is a national, portable credential that promotes career development and skill attainment, and confirms to employers that you possess basic workplace skills in reading, applied math and locating information – skills that are necessary to most jobs.

What are the levels of the NCRC?

The NCRC has four levels. These levels allow you to advance your reading, applied math
and locating information skill levels in order to qualify for more jobs.

• Bronze Level – If you achieve this level, you possess core employability skills for
approximately 16 percent of the jobs profiled by WorkKeys® in these skill areas.

• Silver Level - If you achieve this level, you possess core employability skills for
approximately 67 percent of the jobs profiled by WorkKeys® in these skill areas.

• Gold Level - If you achieve this level, you possess core employability skills for
approximately 93 percent of the jobs profiled by WorkKeys® in these skill areas.

• Platinum Level - If you achieve this level, you possess core employability skills for
approximately 99 percent of the jobs profiled by WorkKeys® in these skill areas.

Why should I obtain my NCRC?
Earning a NCRC level:

• Enables you to rank above other job applicants – the NCRC is your proof that you have
the skills to do the job
• Shows prospective employers concrete proof your skills
• Increases the chances you will be hired after graduation
• Increases your confidence as a potential employee

How to obtain your NCRC
To earn a NCRC, you are tested at your local HACC camps in the WorkKeys assessments in
Applied Mathematics, Locating Information and Reading for Information. You earn either a
NCRC level or identify areas for improvement to achieve your career goals.

Registration is required in advance and walk-ins are not accepted. Pre-testing is self-paced and can take you from one to three hours.
