What are your title and main job responsibilities? Director of development and alumni relations Main job responsibilities - fundraising, supervising the fundraising program, alumni relations program and scholarship program.
What inspires you to come to work every day, and why?
The students! I love seeing the difference that the work we do makes. We enable students to continue their studies when they otherwise could not. I love hearing their stories and their gratitude.
How do you interact with and engage students and excite them about attending HACC and learning?
Working with the scholarship program has given me the opportunity to engage with students and excite them about their experience at HACC. Providing much needed financial relief often propels students to even greater success here and in their future journeys.
What is one of your best moments as an employee at HACC?
I have so many best moments: seeing the excitement on students' faces as Dr. Ski rode into each campus during the Tour de HACC; listening to students speak during donor recognition events; talking one-on-one with students and listening to their incredible, inspiring stories.
What do you see as your greatest personal achievement?
Completing my appointment as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Republic of Georgia. It was the most challenging experience of my life, and I am proud to have finished two-and-a-half years there.
What energizes you the most and why?
My passion energizes me the most. When I am passionate about something, there is no stopping me.
If you could solve one community or national problem, what might that be?
Poverty. I have seen so much poverty on an international scale and after returning to the United States, had my eyes open in a different way to the poverty in my own community.
As you look to the future, what matters most to you?
I want to be a part of something that makes the world a better place for my children to live.
How do you enjoy spending free time?
I spend most of my free time running after two toddlers. When I do have any additional downtime, which isn't often :), I like reading, swimming and spending time with family and friends.
Who's your biggest hero, and why?
Desmond Tutu. I am continually inspired by his words and his work. His areas of passion closely coincide with mine, and I have learned much from him.
