Adult Basic Education Program

Adult Education Pathways/GED

The Adult Education Pathways (AEP) program is designed to promote the employability of individuals by developing clearly defined educational pathways that lead to employment.

Pathways is for you if you would like to: 

  • improve your literacy and/or basic employability skills
  • improve your English speaking and reading skills- for English as a Second Language (ESL) learners 
  • prepare to take and pass the General Education Development (GED) examination
  • take the official GED test

GED Classes

GED preparation classes are designed to prepare you to take the GED exam. These classes are offered on multiple levels. HACC also offers math classes and writing workshops for individuals who only need instruction in those specific areas.

Individuals who are interested in attending classes for the spring semester must first complete an application and submit it for consideration. Applications will be accepted between June 25th -July 27th for admission into the fall semester which begins in September. Applications can be picked up in Whitaker Hall 132 between the hours of 8AM and 4PM, Monday through Friday or accessed through the link below.

Language Institute for English Language Learners

                                                                                                                                       

Workplace Success is for English as a Second Language (ESL) students. It is designed to enhance English reading and speaking skills in a workplace context. Workplace English classes are offered on multiple levels to accommodate the needs of the ESL population. The cost of the class is $60 per session.

Employability Skills and Workforce Preparation

I'LL SUCCEED  is designed to assist individuals who need to improve their employment skills or who are looking to transition into training. Students in this program will participate in career exploration, resume building, computer literacy and navigation, reading and math skills, and prepare to take the test for WorkKeys© certification. As part of the program, participants are required to register with the CareerLink© to determine program eligibility.

GED Testing

The GED test is offered nearly every week of the year.   • Requesting a GED Transcript- If you need a copy of your GED transcript, you may pick up the request form in our office located in Whitaker Hall 132 or print a copy of the GED transcript request form here. The form must be completed and mailed to the Pennsylvania Department of Education. There is a $3 fee per request. HACC does not issue offical transcripts.

 

  • 30 College Credit Diploma-  If you have not received a high school diploma or GED but you have completed 30 college credits, you are eligible to receive a Commonwealth Seconday School Diploma. Applications are available in our office in Whitaker Hall 132, or you can print the 30 College Credit Diploma application here.


Math Remediation

Basic Math is a class designed to assist students in improving their skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals and percents. The class is designed specifically for students who need to improve their math score on the college placement tests. The cost of this class is $143 and will be available in the summer.
