Attending school part-time is often a long-term prospect. For some students, it can take five or six years to complete a degree program. HACC knows that many students would like to have options available to decrease the amount of time it takes to earn a degree.
In Fall 2008, the Lancaster Campus began offering “Fast Track” evening classes that fulfill requirements of the Business Studies Associate Degree. The purpose of this scheduling option is to give motivated adult students the opportunity to proceed through this program at a faster pace (perhaps ½ the time) while still going to school part-time.
Fast Track Course Offerings Spring 2014 (pdf)
- Run for 8 weeks each starting in August. The year will be divided into five 8 week terms.
- Classes will meet two nights a week and you will have the option of taking one or two courses during each 8 week term. Whether you take one of two courses per term, the class meetings will take place two nights a week.
- The Fast Track schedule is a step-in, step-out option. That means that you can take a “break” from classes a particular term if needed and return when you are ready. You do not have to make a multi-year commitment at the start in order to participate. We do know though that some students will like to move through classes with a cohort of familiar faces and that will be possible.
- Financial aid options are available for this program.
The Fast Track Scheduling Option is intensive and will require a lot of dedication, motivation, and work. There are no short cuts here on program quality. This option will allow you to complete more courses in a shorter amount of time. Because classes only last 8 weeks however, you need to be ready to work hard from day one. Success in this program will require commitment.
To help make sure that students participating in this scheduling option are aware of the commitment ahead, interested students will need to meet with an academic advisor to start the process. This is an opportunity for every potential student to ask questions and get all the facts necessary to make the best possible decision about whether to take Fast Track classes.
