Personal Care Home Administrator

Noncredit Program - Harrisburg

Nurse Aide Training and Noncredit Health Care Calendar/Brochure (July-Dec 2009)(pdf )  

HACC offers the full 100-hour course for new administrators and also offers individual courses to meet the requirements of the 24 annual CEUs for existing administrators. The course has been approved by the PA Department of Public Welfare to meet the requirements set forth in the new regulations. This program is designed to strengthen health and safety requirements and more adequately address all of the issues surrounding resident care. Course Cost: $1,449 for the full 100-hour course or the program topics can be taken individually at $15 per hour to meet the continuing education requirement (24 hours annually).

The Personal Care Home Administrator's Course Requirements:
- Have an existing Nursing Home Administrator's license, or
- Be an RN or LPN with 1 year of work experience in a related field, or
- Have an Associate's Degree or 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university

This course may be taken in its entirety for new administrators or it can be broken down into parts to cover the 24 hours of required continuing education units.

Care for Residents with Dementia, Cognitive Impairments and Other Special Needs (8 hours)

Care for Residents with Mental Retardation (2 hours)
Recreation (4 hours)
Fire Prevention and Emergency Preparedness (4 hours)
Writing, Completing, and Implementing Initial Assessments and Support Plans (9 hours)
Budgeting and Financial Recordkeeping (4 hours)
Cultural Competency (3 hours)
Gerontology (5 hours)
Local, State, and Federal Laws and Regulations Pertaining to the Operation of the Home (2 hours)
Resident Rights (4 hours)
Nutrition, Food Handling and Sanitation (5 hours)
Personal Care Services and Personal Hygiene (9 hours)
Staff Supervision and Training (8 hours)
Medication Procedures, Medication Effects and Side Effects, and Universal Precautions (7 hours)
Community Resources, Social Services, and Activities in the Community (6 hours)

- Please be sure that the permission to bill contains an authorized signature from a facility representative or we will be unable to process it until it is complete.
- Each student should be listed separately with all of their personal information.
- Please be sure to include what sections students are taking if they are not enrolling in the entire program.

Veterans Education Benefits:Non-credit Healthcare Programs which result in a certificate upon completion are approved for veterans education benefits. VA benefits are based on the length of the class and the number of clock hours per week. Benefits are determined by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Tuition must be paid in advance since VA benefits are disbursed on a post-payment basis. If you are a self-pay student, payment is due at time of enrollment prior to class start date, either by check, money order or by Visa or Mastercard and you must phone, fax or mail in your registration depending upon type of payment.
