Who?
The blended online paramedic program may be attempted by very motivated students with discipline and good study habits.
What?
Paramedic lecture online. The online portion will replace the classroom (lecture) only (currently 6 hours / week). Once each week students need to attend a clinical lab at Harrisburg campus. The hospital clinical (ER, OB, Peds, psych, ICU, OR, etc.) and ALS field rotations are scheduled at clinical sites in central PA comparable to the traditional classroom group - 250 hours each with specific competencies required.
When?
Begins fall semester (August). Mirrors traditional classroom program.
Where?
Didactic material will be prepared at home or from a remote PC that the student has access to. The laboratory clinical will be conducted on a weekly and bi-weekly basis at various HACC campuses. The hospital and ALS field experience will be scheduled at the same hospitals and ALS units used for the traditional program. Equivalent hours and competency requirements at all clinical sites will remain the same as the traditional classroom.
Why? The blended online paramedic program is designed to provide greater convenience and flexibility for students' schedules. Didactic material can be completed at the student's convenience.
