Selective program. Admission to the college doesn't guarantee admission to the clinical component of the program. You will be admitted as a pre-medical lab tech student and work with your advisor to apply to the clinical/core component of the program.
Length of Program and College Degree Conferred - The medical laboratory technician associate degree program is 74 credits, sequenced in 6 semesters, with the awarding of an associate of arts degree upon successful completion. The certificate program is 36 credits, sequenced in 4 semesters. A bachelor in science degree is required for application to this program. Completion time can vary depending on a candidate's background and need for identified preparatory skills and coursework and the student's rate of study. Graduates can sit for American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) and National Credentialing Agency (NCA) certification exams.
