for the 2009 season. The Hawks received
excellent passing all day long from Lindsay Madara and Kulig and Anderson which
allowed Ally Todd to spread the ball around on offense.
Coach
Spoonhour said “I’m so proud of these girls and how well they have played all
season long. They have worked hard this
season and it has been a lot of fun working with them and winning the EPCC is
always our 1st goal as a team each season. We’re going to enjoy this and then get back
to work to prepare for the PCAA Championships.”
Alexsis
Henninger and Aubrey Bobak were selected to the EPCC All Tournament Team and
Lindsay Madara was selected the Tournament Most Valuable Player.
Oct.
3rd- The Lady Hawks hosted the Centurions of Bucks County on
Saturday at Evans PE Center. The shorthanded Centurions were no match for

by scores of 25-10, 25-15 and 25-11. Six different players had service
aces led by Jodell Thompson’s 6. Katie Kulig led the team offensively

finally got rolling. There were contributions from everyone on the roster
as the Lady Hawks swept the Colonials by scores of 25-12, 25-11, and
25-18.
Once
again, a strong service game produced 14 aces and a balanced offense saw eight
Hawks log kills in the match. Lindsay Madara and Katie Kulig led the
serving barrage with 7 and 5 aces each. Aubrey Bobak and Alexsis
Henninger led the way on offense with quality swings all over the court.
Quoting Coach Spoonhour, “Ally Todd has really come along and is beginning to
put our hitters in good situations to be successful. She has been a
leader on this team since day one, but has also worked her tail off to get
where she is right now.”

home on Saturday, October 3 at noon against BucksCounty Community College.
Sept. 28th-The Lady Hawks were excited to hit
the road to Schnecksville on Monday night to take on the Cougars of Lehigh-Carbon.It would be a matchup of first and second
place teams in the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference standings. The Hawks started out strong and established
their service game and defense to keep the Cougars off balance and stifle their
offense.The Hawk offense was balanced
with 5 different players having kills in the game.Deanna Shumate led the offense with 2 kills
from the back row in her first start of the season.
Game two was a stronger offensive
game for the Hawks with Jordyn Anderson, Katie Kulig & Aubrey Bobak each
tallying 3 kills a piece.The Hawks
defense continued to dig many of the Cougars attacks and turning them into
points.Lindsay Madara was dialed in on
defense and kept their outside hitters from getting on a roll.Game three saw the Hawks passing and defense
begin to breakdown.The Hawks offense
became ineffective without the normally steady passing that Ally Todd is
accustomed to getting to run the offense.Anderson and Kulig each had 3 kills in the set but that was all the
offense that could be mustered and the Cougars capitalized as they took the
game and built some momentum.
Game 4 was time for the Lady Hawks
to refocus and get the passes back on target so the offense could get on
track.Madara and Kulig made sure of
that and once again 5 different Hawks were able to help offensively.Alexsis Henninger had a thunderous kill on a
Cougar overpass and helped to spark the energy on the HACC side of the
net.The Hawks came away with a 3-1
(25-15, 25-17, 23-25, 35-16) victory.

the Lady Hawks as they took on the Phantoms of Delaware County CC and Spartans
of Northampton County CC.The Hawks were
excited to be back in front of their home crowd and show why they are currently
undefeated in conference play.Against
the Phantoms it was back and forth early before Katie Kulig caught fire to help
create cushion with her net play and service game.Kulig finished game one with 7 kills to pace
the Hawks’ offense.The girls never
looked back once things started going their way en route to a two game sweep of
25-14 and 25-9.
After the break, the girls got back on the court with a
determination to show the Spartans of Northampton that the Hawks were ready to
defend their home court. On the road
last week, the Spartans took the first game off the Hawks before the Hawks
figured them out to win the match 3-1.With the shorter format, the Hawks knew they could not fall behind.Aubrey Bobak & Kulig came out early to
set the tone with a combined 8 kills in game one.The Hawks were strong from behind the service
line with six different players scoring aces and we got 5 blocks from Bobak and
Nakaury Tapia in the match.
The Hawks’ defense, led by Lindsay Madara, continued to dig
up the Spartans attack and made it very difficult for the opposing hitters to
find the floor.A two game sweep was the
result with game scores of 25-18 and 25-12.The Hawks are currently 8-0 on the season and will hit the road again
this week to play at second place Lehigh Carbon on Monday and Luzerne County on
Wednesday before returning home next Saturday.

finish game one.Game two saw Bobak
again spark a large run to start the game with Katie Kulig collecting 3
finishes and Nikaury Tapia contributed a block and 2 kills.Game three was much the same story as the

the flow of the game.Todd again spread
the offense around with seven players contributing kills in the game to finish
it off.Jordyn Anderson led the way with
5 kills in the game.Kulig broke out her
jump serve in the midst of her final service run that put the match away.Lindsay Madara was again stellar on the
defensive end with Deanna Shumate contributing as well.
The
Lady Hawks are excited about their 6-0 start to the season and look forward to
the second half of the conference schedule that begins on Saturday, September
26th, at home.Quoting coach

compete. It’s a lot of fun to work with
this group of girls and every player has improved and is working hard to
contribute to the team’s success.
Sept. 19- The Lady Hawks traveled to Philadelphia today to compete against the Community College of Philadelphia. The Hawks came out of the gate strong and

says "The girls are having a blast together and have really worked to improve
themselves since the first day of the season this year.I can't wait to see how far this group can
go and hopefully our fans will pack the gym this Saturday when we return
home."
Sept.
16th- The HACC Women’s Volleyball team traveled to defending
champion Northampton County Community College’s gym in Bethlehem, PA.The Spartans were ready to prove they could
hang with the Lady Hawks as the Spartans jumped out in front on multiple HACC
errors and miscues in game one.NCC used
scrappy defense and smart hitting to keep the Hawks off balance in winning game
one with a score of 25-18.
With
a few lineup adjustments, the Lady Hawks came out in game two focused and began
to dig up the Spartan’s attack and convert them into points.Aubrey Bobak began to take control of the net
with a couple of blocks to change the momentum to the Hawks’ advantage.Several Hawks had serving runs in game two to
spur scoring runs leading to a 25-14 win to even the match.Nakaury Tapia also came in during game two to
give the Hawks more size on the front line.
Games
three and four were both back and forth with the Lady Hawks defense beginning
to find its rhythm and the serving game beginning to cause the Spartans some
problems.HACC won both games 25-22 to
walk away with a 3-1 victory over the defending EPCC champions.
Coach
Spoonhour warned his girls before the match that it’s never an easy trip to NCC
and the teams have a rivalry that always brings out a competitive match. At the end of the night, Coach Spoonhour
finished the night saying, “I think the girls got a taste of what I was talking
about and Northampton played their guts out.Northampton deserves all the credit in the world for their effort and I
am glad to see all our freshmen step up and make adjustments during the match
to handle what our opponents are doing.Tonight was a fun match to be a part of and all the teams in our
conference will be better the next time we play them.”
Sept. 13th- The
Lady Hawks hosted a tri match on
Saturday and came away with two key EPCC wins.Delaware County CC came in and pushed the Hawks in the first match.Coach Spoonhour saw a good defensive effort
from his team with Jordyn Anderson leading the way offensively with 6

Delaware off balance with strong serving led by Katie Kulig who posted 6 aces
in the match and Alexis Henninger posting 2 aces of her own. The Lady Hawks came out of the matchup beating Delaware in two games with scores of 25-15 and 25-20.
The
second match saw a very good serving effort from all the ladies as they were
able to put Lehigh Carbon out of system for a majority of the match.Once again, the HACC defense was prepared and
allowed Ally Todd and Jodell Thompson to set up the hitters for a convincing
2-0 win over the ladies from Lehigh Carbon.Libero Lindsay Madara had a solid day of passing and helping the Lady
Hawks defense frustrate their opponents’ hitters. The Lady Hawks finished off the day with a win over Lehigh-Carbon in two games, with scores of 25-12 and 25-14.
Sept. 9th- The HACC Lady Hawks started

3rd game. The Hawks finished out the second game, winning 25-18, with a winning score of 25-8 in the 3rd and final game of the night. The Hawks now
prepare for their tri-match on Saturday against DelawareCountyCC and rival Lehigh Carbon.Come out and support the Lady Hawks as they
fight to get back on top of the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference in
2009!
2008 Season Recaps:
Luzerne Community College put an end to the Lady Hawks winning streak in four tough games, 16-25, 19-25, 25-22, 16-25. The Lady Hawks rallied in the third game but lost their momentum in the fourth. The lost dropped the Lady Hawks to 4-4 in EPCC Conference play and put HACC in jeopardy of not making the playoffs for the first time under Coach Spoonhour. HACC still can make the playoffs but need to get tougher down the stretch in games, which seemed to doom them against Luzerne. The late match was marked by long rallies and missed opportunities.
The Lady Hawks were at home for a double header in EPCC Conference action. HACC used strong serving, got excellent defense and earned a big win in the first match of the night against Delaware Community College. The Lady Hawks took the first game 25-18, had a let down in the second game 17-25, then rebounded strongly to take the next two 25-16, 25-15 and close out Delaware in four. "This was a much better overall effort by our team tonight" said Coach Spoonhour. The time is now for HACC, the three time defending EPCC Conference Champions are starting to get on a roll and find their grove at a crucial time in the season. The win improves the Lady Hawks to 4-3 in EPCC Conference play and gives HACC a well earned two match winning streak.
History:
Lady Hawks Volleyball has established itself as one of the top teams in the EPCC. In the 2007-08 season the Lady Hawks won the EPCC conference tournament and regular season, and were Champions in the PCAA. In the 2002 and 2003 seasons HACC finished regular season play in first place in the division. This gave the team the honor of hosting the EPCC tournament for the past two years. Both years the Lady Hawks advanced to the championships game only to fall short to their rival team from Lehigh Carbon by one game.
