How to Pay for Your Education
Cost should not stop you from achieving your dream of a college education. At HACC, college tuition is lower than at most four-year colleges and we have ways to help you pay for your college education.
- Financial Aid. HACC participates in federal and state programs to help you fund your education. In some cases financial aid could cover the cost of tuition and fees at HACC. The only way to find out is by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
What is the FAFSA? The FAFSA is the one application required to be considered for all state and federal financial aid and scholarships. This includes both free money (grants and scholarships) as well as government loans. You won't know what you qualify for unless you fill out this application.
How do I get started? You should make sure that you (and your parents if applicable) have filed your federal income tax returns. If not, file them electronically, wait ten days and then file the FAFSA. We recommend you try to file the FAFSA by April 15th for the upcoming fall and spring terms but if it is after April 15th don't worry; you can still be considered for some grants and loans. (Current HACC students who want to re-new their PHEAA Grant must complete the FAFSA by May 1).

- HACC payment plan. HACC has payment plan options that allow you to pay your bill over a longer period of time. It is important that each payment be made on time. Click here for more information!
- Certificate of Residency. If you live in one of the 22 sponsoring school districts in Dauphin, Cumberland and Perry counties you may be eligible for a 35% discount on your tuition and fees!
- Explore Scholarships! There are two types of scholarships: HACC scholarships and scholarships from other agencies and organizations. Always check with guidance counselors, community organizations and places of employment to see what scholarships may be available. The Internet is a good resource for finding outside scholarships.
Once you are admitted to HACC, you will be given a User ID and PIN for your myHACC Account. Through this Account you can access all the functions you need to perform as a student including viewing financial aid awards, messages and requirements that relate to your account.
Although HACC staff cannot file the FAFSA on your behalf, we do have financial aid staff at each campus that can answer your questions. We also have computers available at each campus Welcome Center so you can get started on filing your FAFSA. Click here for information for each campus Financial Aid Office.
