On Nov. 17, 2018, alumni, friends and family are invited to savor the best of Virginia Wine Country on a one-day trip with YOUR HACC Alumni Association and AAA Travel.
Virginia’s wine industry has grown greatly both in the number of wineries and in international reputation. Three vineyards producing exceptional wines are featured on this one-day tour. Learn about winemaking and what to look for when tasting wine. Free time will also be provided for some shopping in each of the Vineyard’s shops, so you can bring home some of your favorite varieties.
After departing from HACC’s Harrisburg and Lancaster campuses, the tour of Virginia wine country begins with a stop at 868 Estate Vineyards, where a guided tour of the winery production house will provide an up-close look at the wine making and production process. After the tour, enjoy tasting the most popular 868 Estate Vineyard’s vintages. Following the tasting, we will have a delicious lunch with a glass of wine at the Grandale Vintner’s Table Restaurant, known for their farm-to-table cuisine.
After lunch, the tour will continue at the lovely Breaux Vineyards. Since 1997, Breaux has helped set the pace for Virginia’s wine industry, winning major awards particularly for its Viognier. We will enjoy a tasting in their gorgeous and spacious facility located in the rolling hills.
The last stop will be at Tarara Vineyards. The first vines at Tarara were planted 30 years ago, and since then, this one-of-a-kind winery has produced some of Virginia’s best wines. Experience Tarara’s unique winemaking facility, which is located in a 6,000-square-foot cave near the banks of the Potomac River.
