Students must complete the Honors Application form (pdf). It may also be found in the Honors Program brochure, or obtained from the Advising or Admissions Offices in the Cooper Student Center, or by calling the Admissions office at 780-2400 or by contacting the Honors Program Director Dr. Yvonne J. Milspaw at yjmilspa@hacc.edu.
Students must meet at least one of the following criteria for admission to the program
- Have a high school grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 system), or rank in the top 10% of their high school graduating class
- Show a combined score of at least 1100 on the SAT test or an ACT score of 25 or higher
- Demonstrate special academic abilities or talents by submitting projects, portfolios, papers, awards, or reports of auditions
- Be strongly recommended by faculty
- Have completed 12 or more college credits with a GPA of 3.25
- Be a member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society
All pertinent transcripts and test scores will be independently verified. A letter of acceptance will be sent to all qualifying Honors students. Applications and supporting documents should be sent to the Admissions office by August 1 for the fall semester and December 1 for the spring semester
Interested and motivated students who nearly qualify under the above criteria may, with the instructor’s permission, take one individual Honors class. If the student does well in the class, receiving an A or B, and is enthusiastic about continuing, that student may apply for full admission to the Honors Program
