Tech Prep

Tech(nical) Prep(aration) is a program built around a sequence of academic and technical courses that put a student on a career pathway to the world of work. Tech Prep programs are often anchored at a technical high school and lead to an Associates in Arts Degree in a career program at HACC.

How Tech Prep works:

  • HACC works with area high schools or technical schools to align technical high school programs and academic courses with HACC career programs.

  • A scope and sequence of academic and technical courses is identified for the high school student to follow from the high school program through the HACC associate’s degree program

  • Where possible, HACC awards articulated credit or dual enrollment credit through College in the High School for entry-level courses.

  • The high school student follows the scope and sequence through high school and seamlessly to the HACC associate’s degree program.

Why should you participate in Tech Prep?

  • Tech Prep programs are designed to help students get started on their career of interest.

  • Academic courses in Tech Prep prepare students with the math, reading and writing skills needed in the chosen career field.

  • The seamless agreements between HACC and the technical school program may mean time-shortened post-secondary study.

  • Industry partnerships in Tech Prep programs offer internships and early job opportunities.
