Welcome to the Global Studies Department!
The department includes several academic disciplines in the social sciences, each associated with some aspect of national or global lands, cultures and institutions. Those disciplines include anthropology, economics, geography, government and politics, and history. There are 11 full-time faculty and over 20 adjunct faculty teaching courses in these disciplines across the five geographic campuses and the Virtual Campus.
The Global Studies department offers courses that fulfill requirements in a variety of programs at the College as well as General Education requirements in the Social and Behavioral Science area. It also offers the courses that are the foundation of three associate degrees:
- International Studies
- Social Science (a general degree for students who intend to transfer to pursue a four-year degree in one of the disciplines in Global Studies), and
- Social Science Education (a general degree for student who intend to transfer to pursue a four-year degree in elementary or second education in one of the Global Studies areas)
