DO YOU DOODLE A LOT ON SCRAP PAPER? FINGERS ITCH TO TURN OUT GRAPHICS? OR DO YOU DREAM OF BEING A MULTIMEDIA ARTIST OR ANIMATOR?
Thanks to the Internet, which came into the public realm in 1989, and the World Wide Web (www) that followed two years later, HACC has programs and staff to help you help yourself in these career pursuits.
Carl Petersheim is one of those who’ll be there for you when you enroll. He started out as a Pennsylvania public school industrial arts teacher. The development of the Internet as a network of networks to facilitate global communications meant big changes for countless people, including Petersheim.
The transition took him to Boston where he spent a decade in the competitive computer market as a contractor in design and other facets of ever-changing computer technology. That’s where he branched out to get a “taste for college teaching as an adjunct professor.”
Petersheim, however, wanted to return to Pennsylvania and devote himself to college-level teaching. The opportunity to do both arose five years ago via an opening at HACC. Today, he is an associate professor teaching Web Design and Development.
