YOU’RE A HOT COMMODITY IN THE MARKETPLACE WHEN YOU KNOW YOUR WAY AROUND A COMPUTER IN THIS HIGH-TECH AGE.
Get all the skills and training needed for high-demand Computer Information Systems (CIS) Support Specialist jobs by enrolling in one of HACC’s cutting-edge programs designed for today’s employers.
“We want students to know about hardware and software,” says HACC Professor John Zales. “We want to graduate a one-person Geek Squad who understands computers inside out.”
The term of Geek Squad – which is now attached to a national and international computer repair business – came into being in the 1989 movie, “Heathers.” Although the film didn’t reach acclaim, it fueled the “geek” pop culture personified by NBC’s “Chuck,” a sitcom about a lovable, nerdy computer … geek.
Geeks aside, HACC emphasizes teaching the skills and gaining confidence to fix software, maintain hardware and work through any shutdowns that occur, Zales says.
