Employees contribute a small amount towards the cost of their medical coverage through payroll deductions. Employees may elect to join either Point of Service (POS) or Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) offered by Capital Blue Cross. Each plan gives coverage for preventive and routine care, office visits, emergency and hospital care, and prescriptions.

Blue Cross - Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)
Employees may elect to join a preferred provider organization (PPO). The PPO uses a network of participating providers; however it allows you the flexibility of choosing an out of network provider. Your level of benefits is greater when you select a participating provider. If you use a participating provider there are no claim forms or waiting for reimbursement (these are required if you use an out of area provider). Some services are covered at 100 percent. When using an out of network provider coverage is 80 percent after you satisfy the deductible. Charges are subject to “Reasonable and Customary” limits.
Blue Cross - Point of Service (POS)
Employees may elect to join a point-of-service program (POS). This means that, although it is most desirable to coordinate your care through the primary care physician (PCP) you select from the network directory (and co-pay when using your PCP or a physician referred by your PCP is an incentive to do so), an employee may choose to use another physician without getting a specific referral from your PCP.
