Harrisburg Area Community College’s Shared Governance Policies provide a detailed description of the assessment process in both academic and non-academic areas. They define practices that are reflective of institutional excellence and are mandated by State Statute 335 and Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The cycle of assessment is characterized by sustained college-wide measures of student learning and institutional effectiveness. Assessment practices support the institution in continuously improving quality and efficiency; identifying strengths and weaknesses; maintaining accountability to stakeholders; and informing decision-making and budgeting.
